The Electrician is skilled and experienced in constructing, installing, and repairing electrical systems and their components. Using hand tools and power tools, and conforming to national and local electrical codes: Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as conduits or cable tray / raceway, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be installed. Perform preventive maintenance and upgrades to wiring, conduit and electronic control systems. Identify, troubleshoot and repair problems in electric wiring that occur in an industrial setting. Run tests, isolate problems, replace faulty sections of wiring, and lay conduit. Must follow State and local building codes and the National Electrical Code. Read blueprints and understand the locations of circuits, outlets, load centers, panelboards, and other equipment. Install and connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, outlets, or other components and systems. Licensure may be required, depending on jurisdiction.

• Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Verify trueness of installed components, using plumb bob and level or transit.
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or threader.
• Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
• Measure cut, thread, bend conduits, and then install to conduit runs and pull boxes/termination
• Assemble and fasten materials to make support framework for conduits, trays, and fixtures, using
hand and power tools.
• Set up equipment and required spools in order to efficiently pull wire and cable in conduits or trays.
• Install, build, or repair electrical busses, cabinets, frameworks, and other fixtures used in electrical systems, applying knowledge of suited hand and power tools.
• Work from scaffolding and ladders for assembling components above ground level.
• Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of electrical systems and repair or replace, using
hand tools and power tools.
• Install structures and fixtures, such as Transformers, MCC's, Distribution Panels, Electric Motors, PLC's, circuit breakers, control panels, outlets/lights with hardware, using hand and power tools.
• Select and order conduit, wire, and other required materials.
• Test installed circuits and equipment using appropriate test equipment to assure the quality and safety of completed elements of the electrical distribution systems.
• Instrumentation and controls experiences.


High school diploma or equivalent preferred and completed apprenticeship or on-the-job training required. Or NCCER Certified.

Depending on jurisdiction electricians may be required to show proof of licensure.

• Industrial construction experience.
